Los Angeles Branch Turns 107

Celebrate 107th Birthday
On March 10th, 1910 Mr. Charles Farwell Edson, member of the Los Angeles Municipal Art League (and a local music teacher), appointed a committee, with Norton F. Mason as acting chairman, to function as a committee for the purpose of organizing an association of Southern California, under the provisions of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC), incorporated in 1897, by virtue of the California laws of corporation.

100 music teachers responded to the call of the committee, and met on Dec. 27th, 1910 at the Gamut Club Theatre on Hope Street in Los Angeles, and the object of the association was reported by the committee as to the advantages, purposes and benefits of the contemplated organization, hence the birth of the Los Angeles Branch of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) was announced and subsequently chartered.
